The shock absorber is replaced if it leaks fluid or loses its ability to dampen vibrations, the rod is deformed, and the rubber-metal hinges are destroyed. Shock absorbers should be replaced in pairs, even if one of them is in good condition.

Removal
1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Through the technological hole in the mudguard with a key at 17 mm unscrew the nut of the upper shock absorber mount, holding the rod from turning with a key on 6 mm.

3. Remove the spring washer, cushion washer and upper shock absorber mounting cushion from the rod.
4. With a socket wrench on 13 mm we unscrew the two nuts securing the shock absorber bracket to the lower arm of the front suspension.

5. Remove the shock absorber downwards through the hole in the lever.

6. Remove the lower cushion from the shock absorber rod.
7. With a socket wrench at 17 mm we unscrew the nut of the shock absorber mounting bolt to the bracket, holding the bolt from turning with a wrench of the same size.

8. After removing the bolt, disconnect the shock absorber from the bracket.
When the shock absorber cushions wear out, we replace them.
Installation
1. The shock absorber is installed in the reverse order.
2. After installing the shock absorber bracket on the lower arm, put the lower cushion on the rod and extend it completely. From the engine compartment side, install bushings and washers on the rod and tighten the upper shock absorber mount nut.
We replace the second shock absorber in the same way.
