Front suspension - independent on double wishbones.
The front wheel is connected with four bolts hub, mounted on two tapered roller bearings. The bearings are mounted in the hub and secured with a nut. The hub mounting nut of the right wheel has a left-hand thread and is marked with three dots.

Steering knuckle using two spherical joints (ball joints) related to lower and upper suspension arms. Both levers are stamped from sheet steel, the upper lever is hinged to the body, and the lower one is hinged to the front suspension crossmember - welded power element, attached to the body side members with bolts. The hinges of both levers are rubber-metal (silent blocks), lubrication-free. Ball joints are equipped with plastic liners and filled with grease.
The elastic element of the suspension is a cylindrical spring, passing through the forked upper arm. Its lower end rests on a cup welded to the lower arm. The upper end of the spring rests against the body cup through an insulating rubber gasket. A rubber compression stroke buffer, the upper arm rests against it at maximum suspension travel.
Suspension vibrations are damped by a hydraulic telescopic twin-tube shock absorber, placed inside the spring. With its lower end (reservoir) it is attached to the lower arm via a rubber-metal hinge. The upper end (rod) is connected to the shock absorber support cup welded to the body using two rubber cushions. There is a rubber bushing on the rod inside the shock absorber reservoir - the suspension rebound buffer.
To reduce the roll of the car when turning, the lower arms are connected to each other anti-roll bar - a curved elastic steel rod attached to the lower arms and the body through rubber cushions.
The front wheel camber angle is adjusted by changing the number of adjusting washers placed between the lower arm axle and the cross member. The wheel toe-in is adjusted by changing the length of the side steering rods.
Servicing the front suspension comes down to checking the condition of its parts, adjusting and replacing the grease in the wheel hub bearings, as well as checking and adjusting the wheel alignment angles.
