Replacing generator rotor bearings (VAZ-21051)

1. To remove a faulty bearing from the drive-side cover, unscrew the nuts of the screws that hold the bearing mounting washers, remove the washers with screws and press out the bearing using a hand press.

2. If the screw nuts do not unscrew (the ends of the screws are pierced), then cut off the ends of the screws.

3. A new bearing can be installed in the generator cover only if the bearing hole is not deformed and its diameter is no more than 42 mm.

4. If the hole is larger in diameter or deformed, replace the cover with a new one.

5. The bearing is pressed into the cover using a press and then clamped between two washers, tightened with screws and nuts.

6. After tightening the nuts, punch out the ends of the screws.

7. When replacing the rotor bearing on the slip ring side, it is necessary to replace the cover at the same time, since if the bearing is damaged, the socket in the cover is also damaged.

8. The bearing is removed from the rotor using a puller and pressed on using a press.
