Before starting work, remove the brake drum.
Recommendations:
- The manufacturer recommends performing this operation every time the rear brake pads are replaced.
- This operation is quite complex and responsible, so it is recommended to contact specialists.
- The hub contains two single-row roller bearings that require lubrication and adjustment during operation. The front (outer) bearing is removed together with the brake drum (see subsection 3.33).
Through the hole in the drum (having removed the plug) knock the protective ring off the hub.
Using a screwdriver, pry the seal out of the hub.
Take out the back one (interior) bearing from the hub.
Thoroughly wash the inner rings of the front and rear bearings with rollers and... with kerosene or white spirit.
...the internal cavity of the hub with the outer bearing rings.
Lubricate both bearings with Litol-24 grease and...
...the outer bearing rings, and also fill the inner cavity of the hub between the bearing rings with grease.
Lubricate the working edge of the new oil seal with Litol-24 grease.
Install the rear bearing and seal with the working edge facing into the hub.
Using a suitable mandrel, press the seal into the hub until it stops.
Install the protective ring and press it onto the hub until it stops. Install the brake drum in place and adjust the bearing clearances (see subsection 3.35) and gaps between the pads and the brake drum (see subsection 3.34).
