Removal and installation the cardan transmission (VAZ-21051)

1. Place the vehicle on a lift or inspection pit.

2. Place chocks under the front wheels, release the parking brake and move the gear shift lever to neutral.

3. Raise the rear axle so that the rear wheels can rotate freely.

4. Remove the safety bracket.

5. Install clamp A.70025 on the elastic coupling (see Fig. Flexible coupling connecting the cardan shaft to the gearbox) and, turning the shaft, unscrew the nuts of the bolts securing the flange of the elastic coupling; remove the bolts and then the clamp.

6. Disconnect the rear propeller shaft from the final drive pinion flange.

7. Disconnect the rear parking brake cable guide release spring.

8. Disconnect the intermediate support crossmember from the body floor and remove the driveshaft towards the front of the vehicle.

9. Install the driveshaft assembly onto the vehicle in the reverse order of removal.
