Installing the rear axle gearbox (VAZ-21051)

1. Thoroughly clean the bridge beam from oil.

2. Place a sealing gasket on the mating surface, insert the gearbox into the beam and secure with bolts.

3. Pre-lubricate the bolt threads with sealant.

4. Before applying the sealant, thoroughly degrease the bolts and holes in the beam.

5. Attach the cardan shaft to the gearbox.

6. Install the axle shafts and brake drums.

7. Install the wheel with the tire and screw on the wheel mounting bolts without tightening.

8. Once both wheels are in place, remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle; then tighten the wheel mounting bolts with a torque wrench.

9. Fill the bridge beam with oil through the oil filler hole, after cleaning it and screwing the drain plug into the beam.
