Replacing the front suspension crossmember (VAZ-21061)

To remove the crossmember, we hang up the front part of the car and remove the wheels, stabilizer bar, shock absorbers, springs and disconnect the lower arms from the crossmember (see relevant sections).



In the engine compartment, using a 13 mm socket wrench with a cardan shaft, unscrew the two nuts securing the engine to the suspension cushions.



Having secured a strong rope (cable) on the right side to the mounting eye, and on the left side to the engine support, we hang it on the auxiliary beam (scrap, steel pipe) and lift it slightly.



Using a 19 mm spanner, unscrew the cross member mounting bolts from the outside of the front side members (suspension parts removed for clarity).





Using a 19 mm head, unscrew the nuts from the four studs that secure the cross member to the side members.

We remove the cross member downwards together with the engine mounting supports.

We install the crossbar in the reverse order of removal.

We install the removed suspension units and parts in the reverse order of removal.
