Remove the protective cap from the adjusting screw. key «at 17» loosen the nut so that you can lift the lock washer.
Several times quickly turn the steering wheel to the left and right at an angle of about 10°and at the same time wrap it with a slotted screwdriver (turn away) adjusting screw until free play and steering forces are within tolerance. It is not recommended to overtighten the screw.
After adjustment, tighten the nut, holding the adjusting screw from turning with a screwdriver.
If axial play of the pendulum arm axis is detected, then tighten the nut on the upper part of the axis. To do this, in the engine compartment...
... remove the cotter pin from the castle nut,...
... with socket wrench «at 19» turn it 60° (one face) and check backlash again.
If the backlash has not disappeared, then tighten the nut again and install the cotter pin. If, after tightening the nut, the force required to turn the steering wheel increases greatly, then we repair the pendulum lever (see Replacement and repair of the pendulum arm).
