After making sure that there is no axial movement of the worm in the bearings, press the pins of the ball joints out of the holes in the bipod with puller A.47035 and disconnect the rods from the bipod, while maintaining the straightness of the front wheels.
Shaking the bipod by the head, check if there is a gap in the engagement of the roller and the worm. Within the steering wheel rotation of 30°to each side of the neutral position, there should be no gap, i.e. appreciable free play of the bipod.
If you feel the free movement of the bipod, remove the cap 3 (rice. 5-2), loosen the nut 4 of the adjusting screw, lifting the washer, tighten the adjusting screw 2 until the gap is eliminated. Do not overtighten the adjusting screw. Then, while holding the adjusting screw with a screwdriver, tighten the nut 4.
After making sure that the bipod does not move, connect the fingers of the ball joints to it. Check steering wheel turning force. If it exceeds 196 N (20 kgf), loosen the adjusting screw 2 and put on the cap 3.
