We drain the oil from the crankcase.
Drain the liquid from the engine cooling system (see Replacing the coolant).
Disconnect the upper radiator hose (see Engine Radiator Replacement) and the lower radiator hose (see Replacing the thermostat).
Unscrew the four nuts securing the inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold (see Replacing exhaust system parts) and using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the bolt securing it to the gearbox bracket.
We remove the inlet pipe from the manifold studs and lower it.
Unscrew the two upper nuts securing the engine mounts (see Replacing the engine mount cushion).
Using a wooden block, we rest the jack against the clutch housing (the engine can be lifted with a hoist).
We lift the engine, "helping" the pillow studs to come out of the bracket holes with a screwdriver.
Using a 10 mm socket head, unscrew the nineteen bolts securing the oil pan...
...and we take it off.
We install the removed parts in place in the reverse order. We recommend replacing the oil pan gasket with a new one, preferably with cork crumbs in the rubber. We tighten the oil pan mounting bolts gradually, similar to how we did it when replacing the cylinder head gasket. We lower the engine, using a screwdriver to adjust the pillow studs into the holes in the engine brackets. We fill the engine with fresh motor oil.
