Removing
1. We prepare the car for operations (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").
2. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal (see "Battery - removal and installation").
3. Remove the distributor cap (see "Distributor cap and slider - check and replace").
4. We mark the position of the outer contact of the slider and the distributor housing.
5. Remove the vacuum supply hose from the vacuum regulator fitting.
6. Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the nut securing the distributor to the cylinder block.
7. Remove the lock plate.
8. We take out the distributor from the hole in the cylinder block.
9. Using a 7 mm wrench, unscrew the nut that secures the low voltage wire connecting the distributor to the coil output.
10. Remove the sealing gasket.
Installation
1. The ignition distributor is installed in the reverse order. At the same time, we orient the outer contact of the slider and the body according to pre-applied marks.
2. Check and adjust the ignition timing (see "Ignition timing - check and adjustment") and the angle of the closed state of the contacts (see "The angle of the closed state of the breaker contacts - check and adjustment").
Note: In the event that the position of the distributor slider is unknown, set the piston in the first cylinder to TDC at the end of the compression stroke. To do this, remove the candle of the first cylinder. After closing the hole with a paper stopper, rotate the crankshaft. With enough compression in the cylinder, the air will push the paper stopper out of the hole. Turning the crankshaft further, we set the top dead center of the cylinder, aligning the marks on the pulley and the timing cover (see "Ignition timing - check and adjustment"). In this position of the crankshaft, we install the distributor, orienting the direction of the outer contact of the slider towards the side electrode of the distributor cover at number one. In this case, the line, conditionally passing through the spring latches of the distributor cover, should be directed at an angle of 30-40°to the engine axis. We make the necessary adjustments.
