Replacement of windshield, side glass and tailgate (VAZ-2108)

To remove a damaged windshield, remove the windshield wiper arms, tuck the edges of the seal at the top behind the body opening flange and, pressing on the upper corners of the glass, push it out. At the same time, an assistant should support the glass from the outside. Remove the seal from the glass.

When installing the windshield, wash the grooves of the seal with water and blow them with compressed air, put the seal on the glass, lubricate the groove of the seal, with which it is installed on the body flange, with glycerin or soapy water. Insert the cord 1 into the groove using a screwdriver (figure 178), install the glass in the body opening and pull the ends of the cord from inside the body so that the seal 2 sits in place. The assistant should press lightly on the glass from the outside. If the glass is not installed, check the body opening using glass without a seal. Deviations in the dimensions of the opening are eliminated by straightening.



Replacing the rear door and side glass is done in a similar manner.
