- the first three letters (XTA) are the manufacturer's index:
- 1 – geographical area (X – Europe);
- 2 – country (T – Russia);
- 3 – manufacturer (A – JSC AVTOVAZ);
- the next six digits (210990) are the car model;
- letter of the Latin alphabet (Y) — the model year code of the car (see table 1);
- the last seven digits (2718377) are the body number.

An identification plate with the basic vehicle data is attached under the hood on the passenger side of the engine compartment bulkhead.
The vehicle identification number is also stamped under the hood on the shock absorber support on the passenger side.
The engine model and number are stamped on the end of the cylinder block above the clutch housing. The number can be read using a mirror.

- 6 - version of execution
- 7 - configuration option
- 8 - maximum permitted mass of a vehicle with a trailer
- 9 - maximum permitted vehicle weight
- 10 - part number for ordering spare parts
