Transmission input shaft: 1 - thrust ring; 2 - gear wheel of the 1st gear; 3 - gear wheel of the 2nd gear; 4 - gear wheel of the 4th gear; 5 - rear bearing of the input shaft; 6 - 3rd gear gear; 7 - reverse gear; 8 - the inner ring of the front bearing of the input shaft
The input shaft is a block of drive gears, some of which are made on the shaft, and the second is pressed with a large interference fit. Therefore, the input shaft is a non-separable structure and only bearings can be replaced on it.
Troubleshooting the input shaft, its gears and bearings is similar to troubleshooting the output shaft.
Attention! When pressing the rear bearing, apply force only to the inner race of the bearing.
Replacing input shaft bearings
1. Clamp the shaft in a soft metal vise and compress the rear bearing with a puller.
2. Turn the shaft over and compress the primary bearing inner race.
3. Using a suitable mandrel, press the rear bearing onto the shaft until it stops.
4. Using a suitable mandrel, press the inner race of the front bearing onto the shaft as far as it will go. Don't forget to pre-install the thrust ring.
