The input shaft is a block of drive gears, one part of which is made directly on the shaft, the second is pressed onto the shaft with a large interference fit. Therefore, the input shaft is a non-separable structure and only its bearings can be replaced.
Troubleshooting the input shaft, its gears and bearings is similar to troubleshooting the output shaft (see «Secondary shaft repair» in subsection «Transmission»).
To replace the rear bearing 3, press it with a puller and press a new one to the stop using an appropriate mandrel, applying force only to the inner race of the bearing. When replacing the front bearing, pay attention to the fact that a thrust ring 2 is installed on the shaft under its inner ring 1.
