Primary shaft repair (VAZ-2115)

The primary shaft is a block of drive gears, one part of which is made directly on the shaft, the second is pressed onto the shaft with great tension. Therefore, the primary shaft is a non-separable structure and only its bearings can be replaced.

The inspection of the primary shaft, its gears and bearings is similar to the inspection of the secondary shaft (see "Secondary shaft repair" in the subsection "Transmission").



To replace the rear bearing 3, press it out using a puller and press the new one in until it stops using a suitable mandrel, applying force only to the inner ring of the bearing. When replacing the front bearing, note that a thrust ring 2 is installed on the shaft under its inner ring 1.
