Advice: It is recommended to remove the tank after the maximum amount of fuel has been used up.
To complete the work you will need:
- inspection pit or overpass;
- height adjustable stand.
Removal
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Relieve the pressure in the fuel line (see "Fuel line - pressure relief"). We do not connect the wiring harness to the fuel module.
3. Disconnect the fuel line fittings from the fuel filter (see "Fuel filter - replacement").
Tip: To prevent dirt from getting into the fuel line, tape the ends of the fuel line tubes with masking tape or electrical tape.

4. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the clamps and disconnect the filler pipe hose (1) and the gravity valve hose (2) from the fuel tank.

5. Through the filler pipe of the tank, pump the maximum amount of fuel into the canister.
6. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the fastening of the plastic air release hose from the tank and disconnect the plastic hose from the fuel tank.

Tip: To prevent debris from getting into the fuel tank, plug the fuel tank connections with rags.
7. Place a stand under the tank.
8. With a socket wrench by 13 mm we unscrew the bolts of the two fuel tank mounting clamps.

9. Remove the fuel tank.

Installation
We install the tank in the reverse order.
