Before starting work: Disconnect the wire from the "–" terminal of the battery.

The ignition switch is mounted on the steering column under the steering shaft covers. The ignition switch is equipped with an anti-theft device that locks the steering shaft when the key is removed.

1. Remove the seven screws securing the steering shaft decorative covers and...

3....lower casing.

4. Remove the instrument cluster from the instrument panel (see subsection 8.6.1.).

5. Disconnect the ignition switch wiring harness from the ignition switch relay and...

6....the electrical wiring harness block.

7. Remove the two ignition switch mounting bolts and...

8....disconnect the ignition switch ground wire from the wiring harness.

9. Remove the ignition switch and its mounting bracket from the steering shaft. Install the ignition switch in the reverse order of removal. Before installing the steering shaft covers, check the operation of the ignition switch and light signaling system with the ignition on.
