Ignition switch
The key in the ignition switch occupies the following positions:
- 0 – everything is off. The key is removed, the anti-theft device is not turned on.
- 1 – ignition on. The key cannot be removed. In this key position, the following circuits can be turned on by the corresponding switches and toggles: side lights, low or high beam headlights with an alarm indicator lamp, license plate light, engine compartment and trunk lights, instrument cluster lights, glove compartment lights, windshield wipers, heater electric fan, cigarette lighter socket lights and reversing lights. In addition, in this key position, the following circuits are turned on: ignition, voltage regulator, generator excitation winding, coolant temperature gauge, fuel level gauge with reserve indicator lamp, battery charge indicator lamp, engine oil pressure indicator lamp, parking brake on indicator lamp and low brake fluid level indicator lamp in the reservoir, direction indicators with an indicator lamp.
- 2 – starter is on. Key is not in fixed position. Key cannot be removed.
- 3 – everything off (parking). When the key is removed, the anti-theft device is on. To turn off the anti-theft device, insert the key into the ignition switch and, slightly turning the steering wheel to the right and left to reduce friction when the ignition switch locking rod comes out of the groove in the steering shaft, turn the key to position "0".
The circuits of the interior lighting lamps, brake lights, horn, cigarette lighter and portable lamp socket are always energized, regardless of the position of the key in the ignition switch.
