Removal
1. Prepare the vehicle for operations (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the steering column switch (see "Steering column switches - removal and installation").
3. Disconnect the wiring block from the ignition switch (see "Ignition switch (lock) - removal, inspection and replacement of the contact group").
4. With a socket wrench by 13 mm we unscrew the nut of the bolt fastening the cardan joint of the intermediate shaft to the gearbox shaft, holding the bolt from turning with a key of the same size. We take the bolt out of the cardan joint fork.

5. Using sliding pliers, unscrew the two bolts (with breakaway heads) shaft bracket fastenings.

We remove the fixing plates.
6. With a socket wrench by 13 mm we unscrew the two nuts securing the upper steering shaft bracket.

7. Remove the steering shaft assembly by removing the intermediate shaft cardan joint fork from the splines.
8. With a socket wrench by 13 mm unscrew the nut securing the intermediate shaft bolt of the steering gear to the upper shaft, holding the bolt from turning with a wrench of the same size. Remove the bolt and disconnect the intermediate shaft from the upper shaft.
9. Remove the ignition switch (see "Ignition switch (lock) - removal and replacement of the contact group").
Installation
1. Install the ignition switch on the bracket.
2. Before installing the steering shaft, slightly spread the cardan joint forks of the intermediate shaft with a chisel or a large screwdriver.

3. Connect the intermediate shaft to the upper shaft, install the bolt into the hole in the cardan joint fork and tighten the bolt nut.
4. Place the intermediate shaft cardan joint fork onto the gearbox shaft splines (if necessary, tap the end of the upper shaft with a hammer).
5. Install the bolt into the hole in the cardan joint fork and tighten the nut.
6. Further installation is carried out in reverse order.
