- park the car on level ground and block the rear wheels with the parking brake;
- Remove the spare wheel, jack and tool bag from the trunk. In a car with a body "station wagon" the spare wheel, tool bag and jack are located in a compartment under the floor of the luggage compartment. To access them, fold down the mat 1 (pic. 40), unscrew screw 2 and remove cover 3;
- use a combination wrench to loosen the bolts of the wheel to be replaced by one turn;
- insert the lifting support arm of the jack into the socket of the bracket located under the floor closest to the wheel to be changed (pic. 41). Checking the strength of the supporting soil (when lifting the car, the jack must not go deep), rotate the jack handle until the wheel is raised off the ground;
- unscrew the wheel mounting bolts, lower it and rearrange the decorative cap from the removed wheel to the installed one;
- install the spare wheel, tighten the mounting bolts and evenly tighten them crosswise;
- lower the car, remove the jack, tighten the bolts and check the air pressure in the tire.
After finishing work, put a bag with a tool, a jack and a wheel in the trunk, for which:
- support arm 4 (pic. 42) lay the jack along the rail and rest against the base 5 by turning the handle;
- place the jack on the brackets 3 and insert the handle 1 into the slot 2;
- check that the instrument is properly stowed in the bag 6 and secure it with an elastic strap 7;
- install the wheel in the niche of the trunk and secure the wheel with the jack with an elastic belt 8, throwing the hook of the belt over the edge of the central hole of the wheel.
It is not recommended to open and close the doors, hood and trunk lid with the car installed on the jack.
