Replacing the door threshold
1 – connector; 2 – threshold amplifier; 3 – outer threshold panel
The dotted lines indicate the cutting lines, the dots indicate the contact welding seams. The arrows indicate the gas welding locations.
Replacement must be performed with the front and rear fenders removed.
Replace amplifier 2 only if there is deformation or through corrosion.
1. Using a fine chisel, cut off the 3 threshold panel, remove the remaining strips of metal and clean the edges with a grinder.
2. Mark the new threshold panel for the center pillar, adjust the panel into place and secure with clamps.
3. Weld the panel at the extreme points using gas welding, install the doors and check the installation of the panel. The threshold protruding and sinking relative to the door should not be more than 3 mm.
4. Remove the doors and weld the threshold panel to the mating parts using contact welding with a pitch of 50–60 mm. Electric welding in a carbon dioxide environment with a current of 50–90 A or gas welding is allowed.
5. Weld the panel to the center pillar using gas welding and clean the welds.
