Adjusting the tension of the camshaft drive belt (VAZ-21051)

1. Remove the upper protective cover 8 (see Fig. Camshaft Drive Diagram).

2. Loosen bolts 6 securing bracket 11 of the tension roller and turn the crankshaft with a wrench two or three times. In this case, spring 12 will automatically set the required tension of belt 10. Rotate the shaft smoothly, keeping the belt under constant tension and not allowing the belt to loosen when the shaft stops.

3. Tighten bolts 6 and secure the upper protective cover 8.
