Adjusting the brake pedal
1. Preparing the vehicle for work (see points 1 and 2 "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Place a ruler or tape measure near the brake pedal. Press the brake pedal with your hand and lower it down until you feel an increase in the resistance of the brake pedal movement. To improve the accuracy of the measurement, repeat the adjustment several times.
If the amount of free travel of the brake pedal does not correspond to the required value, adjust its position.
3. Remove the wire connectors from the brake light switch terminals.
4. Using a 19 mm open-end wrench, loosen the lock nut of the switch.
The brake light switch also acts as a stop for the brake pedal in its upper position.
5. By turning the switch, we lower the brake pedal, reducing its free travel; by turning the switch, we raise the brake pedal, increasing its free travel.
6. After adjusting the brake pedal, fix the switch in the required position with a lock nut.
7. By pressing the brake pedal several times, we check the operation of the brake lights.
