1. We prepare the car for operations (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").
Attention! When performing the following operation, do not pull on the high voltage wire. Force should only be applied to the tip.
2. Remove the tip of the high-voltage wire from the spark plug.
3. We clean the dirt and blow the cylinder head around the candle with compressed air.
4. Candle wrench by 21 mm or with a socket wrench with a deep head, we unscrew the candle from the threaded hole in the cylinder head.
5. Visually assess the condition of the candle.
In a serviceable spark plug with an adjusted engine, the carbon deposits on the insulator should be from gray-yellow to gray-brown. If the soot is black, the spark plug may be faulty or the engine adjustments are broken. If the spark plug insulator is cracked or damaged, it must be replaced.
6. With a round probe, check the gap between the electrodes. If the gap does not correspond to the norm, set it according to the table. 13.3 by bending or bending the side electrode.
Table 13.3. Gap between spark plug electrodes
Ignition system | Gap, mm | candle type |
Contact | 0,5-0,6 | A17DVR |
Contactless | 0,7-0,8 | A17DV-10 |
7. We install the candle, wrapping it by hand, and then tighten it with a key with a torque of 3-4 kgf·m.
Attention! Overtightening the spark plug can damage the threads in the cylinder head bore.
8. Similarly, we replace the spark plugs of other cylinders.
