Note. Work on replacing spark plugs is shown on a VAZ 2110 car with an injection engine 21124 (1,6i). Features of replacing candles on a VAZ 2110 car with a 2112 engine (1,5i) indicated in the text.
We replace the spark plugs on the car according to the manufacturer's recommendation every 30,000 km of run, or when they fail, if the engine begins to work unstably at idle.
To carry out repair work on replacing spark plugs, you will need: a special socket wrench for 16 mm spark plugs with an extension. The key head must have a rubber sleeve that holds the spark plug.
Removing
1. On a car with a VAZ 21124 engine (l,6i) remove the ignition coil of the first cylinder (see points 1, 2, 8 and 9 "Ignition coils of the VAZ 21124 engine (1,6i) - check and replacement").
By car with a VAZ 2112 engine (l,5i) remove high voltage wires from spark plugs (see points 1-3 "High-voltage wires of spark plugs of the VAZ 2112 engine (1,5i) - removal, installation and replacement").
2. Using a 16 mm socket wrench for candles, unscrew the candle and remove it from the socket.
3. Remove the spark plug from the key head.
Spark Plug Gap Adjustment
4. Before installing the spark plug with a set of round probes, we check the gap between its electrodes. The spark plug gap should be 1.0-1.13 mm.
Warning. When checking the gap between the electrodes with flat probes, the measurement results will be incorrect.
5. We adjust the gap between the electrodes by bending the side electrode.
Installation
Warning. To avoid damage to the threads in the cylinder head, the spark plug must first be screwed in by hand, and then tightened by inserting the wrench into the wrench extension. The tightening torque of the candle is 30-40 Nm.
We insert the spark plug into the key head and wrap it into the cylinder head.
Similarly, we replace the candles of the remaining cylinders.
Installation
We install on the car all the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
