Scheme of switching on the heater electric motor
1 - heater electric motor; 2 - additional resistor; 3 - heater motor switch; 4 - fuse block; 5 - ignition switch; 6 - generator; 7 - battery.
Electric motor ME-255 - direct current with excitation from permanent magnets.
When the motor power is turned on through an additional resistor, the armature rotates more slowly. Resistor resistance - 1.5 ohm at 20°C.
Technical characteristics of the heater motor*
Shaft speed, min–1 | 3000±150 |
Consumed current at the above frequency of rotation of the shaft, no more than, A | 4,5 |
Low shaft speed, min–1 | 2200±150 |
Current consumption at low speed, no more than, A | 2,7 |
* When the motor is loaded with an impeller, voltage 12 V and temperature 25±10°C.
We recommend replacing a faulty electric motor with a new one (see Replacing the electric heater fan). A common defect in an electric motor is the whistle of its bearings. Unfortunately, lubricating the bushings only gives a temporary effect.
The only possible repair is cleaning the collector.
Attention! We mark the relative position of the motor housing and the cover.
We remove the washer from the anchor axis...
Prying off with a screwdriver, remove the retaining ring..
... and textolite washers.
Removing rubber engine mounts (if they were not removed when dismantling the engine), unscrew the two screws securing the cover with a screwdriver.
The screws are wrapped in plates with threaded holes, which are inserted into the slots of the housing from opposite sides.
Remove the cover assembly with the brush holder.
We take out the anchor from the housing and remove the two washers from the shaft.
We blow the internal cavities of the electric motor with compressed air to remove coal dust and check the condition of the brushes, collector and armature winding.
The brushes must move freely, without jamming, in the brush holders, and the springs must be intact and have sufficient elasticity. We clean the collector with a fine-grained sandpaper, and then degrease it with alcohol or gasoline. If the collector is badly burned or worn out, then it is better to change the electric motor.
We assemble the electric motor in the reverse order of disassembly.
Attention! Check the alignment of the marks on the cover and the motor housing.
