The free travel of the brake pedal is adjusted by moving the brake light switch on the pedal assembly bracket. It should be 3-5 mm.

Adjust only when the engine is not running.
Place the ruler on the floor mat (it should be perpendicular to the brake pedal pad) and measure the distance from the floor to the pedal pad.

Press the brake pedal, selecting the free travel, and measure the distance from the pedal pad to the floor. The difference between these measurements is the free travel of the pedal.

If the brake pedal free play is outside the permissible limits, adjust it by loosening the brake light switch mounting nuts and...

...by screwing the switch in or out of the bracket (if there is a lot of free play, unscrew the switch from the bracket towards the pedal; if there is little or no free play, screw the switch into the bracket, moving it away from the pedal).

Check the brake pedal free play again (see operations 1 and 2). Tighten the brake light switch mounting nuts.
