Recommendation: The check should be carried out 10-15 minutes after the engine has been stopped
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the measuring probe from the guide tube (shown on a 16-valve engine).

Note: On the 8-valve engine, the dipstick is located differently.

3. Wipe the dipstick with a rag, removing oil from it, then insert it back into the tube until it stops.
4. Remove the dipstick; the oil level should be within the grooved area on the dipstick (on a 16-valve engine).

Note: On an 8-valve engine, the oil level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the dipstick surface

If the level is below the grooved area or the "MIN" mark, add oil (see below, "Lubrication system - oil and oil filter replacement").
