The leg of the indicator 1 is rested against the end of the axis at the zero position of the arrow and, moving the brake drum along the axis, measure the amount of movement (clearance) but the indicator if the gap is greater than 0.20 mm, adjust it in the following order:
- unpin the hub bearing fastening nut 5 and tighten it to a torque of 19.6 Nm, while turning the hub in both directions 4-5 times to self-align the roller bearings;
- loosen the nut of the hub bearings and tighten it again to a torque of 6.9 N·m and then release it until the first alignment of the nut slot with the hole for the cotter pin in the axle, but not more than 30°, after which the cotter pin is installed in place;
- after adjustment, the clearance in the bearings should be 0.02-0.13 mm.
Before installing the hub cap in place, put 25 g of Litol-24 lubricant into it. If the lubricant in the bearings changes, then 60 g of Litol-24 grease is placed between the rollers and bearing cages over the entire surface, into the cavity of the hub between the bearings, including 25 g into the hub cap.
