Thermostat location: 1 - connecting hose; 2 - hose to the inlet pipe-water pump; 3 - expansion tank hose; 4 - thermostat; 5 - radiator outlet hose
You will need: screwdriver.
If the engine warms up for a long time after starting or overheats during operation, a malfunctioning thermostat may be a possible cause.
The main thermostat valve should begin to open at a coolant temperature of 85-95°C and open fully at a temperature of 102°C. In this case, the valve stroke must be at least 8 mm.
The thermostat is interchangeable with the thermostat of the VAZ-2108 car.
To check the thermostat, dip it in water heated to a temperature of 78-80°C. Heat the water, stirring constantly, to a temperature (87±2) °C. At this temperature, the main thermostat valve should begin to open. Otherwise, replace the thermostat.
1. Disconnect the three hoses from the thermostat by loosening the hose clamps.
2. Loosen the connecting hose clamp.
3. Remove the thermostat by removing its fitting from the connecting hose. Install the new thermostat in the reverse order of removal and add fluid to the cooling system.
