Disconnect the wire from the terminal "-" battery.
Drain the fuel from the tank using a special hose with a pear. Disconnect the wires and the fuel intake hose from the fuel gauge sensor (see subsection 10.10.13., operations 1-9).
The fuel tank is attached with four nuts to the studs of the bottom of the car body.
1. Remove the three nuts securing the fuel tank shield (one of the nuts also secures the fuel tank) And...
2....remove the protective screen.
3. Loosen the fuel tank filler hose clamp and...
4.... Disconnect the hose from the fuel tank.
5. Release the holders of the ventilation hose to the fuel tank and...
6....pull the ventilation hose out of the holders.
7. Remove the fuel supply hose from the hole in the fuel tank flare.
8. Loosen the remaining three fuel tank nuts (ask an assistant to hold the fuel tank).
9. Remove the air outlet hose from the fuel tank neck, disconnect it from the fuel tank fitting (shown by arrow), loosen the vent hose clamp and disconnect the hose from the fuel tank. Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
10. Unscrew the six nuts securing the flange of the fuel level indicator sensor, remove the spring washers, as well as the tip "mass" wires from one of the studs.
11. Remove the fuel gauge sensor from the fuel tank.
12. Pry with a screwdriver and remove the fuel gauge sensor flange gasket.
13. Check the condition of the fuel tank flange studs and the flange surface. If there is no thread on the studs, or if the flange is severely deformed, replace the fuel tank.
14. Inspect the tank along the junction of the upper and lower parts. If you find a fuel leak, replace the tank or solder it. To do this, pour out the remaining gasoline, rinse thoroughly, steam and dry the tank. Then clean the leak, treat it with soldering acid and solder it with soft solder (POS-60). Be careful! If gasoline vapors remain in the tank, they may ignite.
15. Install fuel tank (after putting a fuel gauge sensor on it, if the tank is not equipped with it) on the car in the reverse order of removal.
