Idle speed adjustment is performed with the air filter installed (the filter has been removed from the photos for clarity) when the engine is warmed up (the coolant temperature is 90-95°C), with the valve actuator clearances adjusted and the ignition timing correctly set. The air flap must be fully open.
Since the adjustment of the idle speed of the crankshaft and the content of carbon monoxide (CO) in the exhaust gases are performed together, and a gas analyzer is required to determine the CO content, it is recommended to carry out these operations in special workshops. When adjusting the CO content, the crankshaft speed changes slightly, and when adjusting the crankshaft speed, the CO content changes.
1. Start the engine. Turn the mixture quantity screw to set the engine crankshaft speed to 820-900 min⁻¹. Then check the CO content in the exhaust gases.
2. The CO content should be within 0.5-1.5%. To adjust the CO content, remove the plug protecting the mixture quality (composition) screw.
3. Turn the quality screw to achieve the required CO content in the exhaust gases. Set the idle crankshaft speed again with the mixture quantity screw. If necessary, repeat the adjustments sequentially and ensure that the idle crankshaft speed and CO content comply with the standards.
