Since 1980, a foot-operated windshield washer has been installed on VAZ-2101, -2102 vehicles (see Fig. Windshield washer pressure pump). This pump had an additional switch 8 for the windshield wiper, which was activated when the pump button was pressed.
Since 1982, windscreen wipers have been equipped with a reusable thermal bimetallic fuse to protect the gear motor from overloads.
