2. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn on the starter. If the engine does not start on the first attempt, turn off the ignition and after 20-30 seconds, turn on the starter again. It is not recommended to turn on the starter for more than 10-15 seconds. Do not press the accelerator pedal while starting the engine. In case of difficulty starting the engine (excessive amount of fuel entered the combustion chambers) press the accelerator pedal all the way and turn on the starter for 10-15 seconds to purge the cylinders, then release the accelerator pedal and start the engine in the prescribed manner.
After starting the engine, release the ignition key, which will automatically return to position I (see fig. 26). With stable operation of the engine after starting, gently release the clutch pedal.
Starting the engine in the cold season
These recommendations ensure the launch of a fully serviceable car with a battery charged at least 75%.
1. Engine oil must be suitable for ambient temperature (see annex 1).
2. Gasoline volatility class - for the winter period of the year, depending on the climatic area of application in accordance with GOST R51105-97.
3. When leaving the car for a long time in an open parking lot, before turning off the engine, it is recommended "burn through" spark plug. To do this, within one minute, increase the engine speed to 3000 min-1, and then mute.
4. Before starting, turn on the ignition, pause for a few seconds so that the electric fuel pump has time to raise the pressure in the fuel rail to the working value.
5. Before starting and during starting, keep the clutch pedal depressed and do not press the accelerator pedal.
6. If there are no flashes in the engine cylinders within 10 seconds, stop the start attempt. Repeat it after 40 seconds.
7. If the second attempt to start was unsuccessful, the third should be started with the accelerator pedal fully depressed (cylinder purge mode). After 6-8 seconds of purge, begin to slowly release the accelerator pedal, holding it in the position at which flashes appear.
8. If the third start attempt fails, then either the ambient temperature is lower than expected "Specifications" (minus 25 degrees - the limit of the possibility of a cold start of the engine without auxiliary devices), either the engine is defective, or there is some deviation from the recommendations above.
