We turn out the spark plugs. We remember the position of the ignition distributor slider. We change the caps of cylinders, the pistons of which are at TDC (first the 1st and 4th, and then, turning the crankshaft by 1800, in the 2nd and 3rd). For this...
... inserted between the piston and the valve disc (on which we change the cap) a soft metal bar with a diameter of about 8 mm. In extreme cases, you can use a screwdriver.
We screw a nut onto the bearing housing mounting stud. We put a grip under the nut «cracker».
compress «cracker» valve springs and tweezers remove crackers.
Let's take the plate...
...outer and inner springs,...
...as well as the top...
...and bottom support washers.
Using a screwdriver, pry off and remove the oil slinger cap from the guide bushing.
You can also remove the oil cap with special pliers.
In order not to damage the working edge of the new cap, we put a plastic sleeve on the valve stem. It is sold in a set with oil seals.
Lubricate the working edge of the new cap with engine oil and put it on the valve stem.
Remove the plastic sleeve with tweezers and press the cap onto the guide sleeve through the mandrel.
We assemble the gas distribution mechanism in the reverse order.
Before installing the camshaft, by turning the crankshaft, we return the distributor slider to its original position. In this case, the crankshaft pulley mark will be opposite the long mark on the camshaft drive cover (see Adjusting the gap between the levers and camshaft cams).
After the complete assembly of the gas distribution mechanism, we adjust the thermal gaps in the valve drive.
