Advice. You can try to replace the valve stem seals on the 2112 engine without removing the head from the cylinder block. To do this, it is necessary to set the piston of the cylinder, the valve stem seal of which is to be replaced, to the TDC position and, having removed the guide tubes of the spark plugs, insert a stop under the valve through the spark plug hole (tin rod with a diameter of 2-3 mm). But it is difficult enough to do so.
Work is performed on the removed cylinder head of engine 21124.
To complete the work you will need:
- cracker;
- tweezers;
- oil seal remover;
- mandrel for pressing caps.
Removing
1. Remove the cylinder head (see "Cylinder head for 2112 and 21124 engines (16v) - removal and installation").
2. If the block head was dismantled in assembly with camshafts, remove the shafts (see "Camshafts for 2112 and 21124 engines (16v) - removal and installation").
3. We take out the hydraulic pushers from the seats in the head (see "Valve lifters for engines 2112 and 21124 (16v) - removal and installation").
4. We wrap the M6 bolt into the threaded hole of the cylinder head.
5. We start the grip of the cracker under the head of the bolt, and set the emphasis on the spring plate.
Warning! When performing the following operation, do not scratch the walls of the seat of the hydraulic pushers with a cracker!
6. By pressing on the handle of the cracker, we compress the valve spring.
7. Keeping the spring compressed, use tweezers to remove two valve crackers.
8. Slowly release the spring and remove the cracker.
9. Remove the spring plate with tweezers.
10. We take out the spring.
11. Remove the spring washer.
12. Install the grip of the puller on the valve stem seal.
13. Press the cap off the valve guide.
Installation
1. We apply clean engine oil to the working edge of the new cap and carefully, so as not to cut it on the sharp edges of the valve stem grooves, put the cap on the stem.
2. With light hammer blows through the mandrel, press the cap all the way onto the guide sleeve.
3. Install the support washer, spring, spring plate and crackers in reverse order.
Similarly, we replace the valve stem seals on other valves.
