You will need: a tin rod with a diameter of about 8 mm (e.g. solder), tweezers, a screwdriver, a mandrel for pressing on caps, oil scraper caps and valve springs.
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «-» battery.
2. Remove the head cover (see «Replacing the Head Cover Gasket».
3. Remove the toothed pulley from the camshaft (see «Replacing the cylinder head gasket».
4. Turn away two nuts of 1 fastening «massive» wires and remove the wire ends from the studs. Then turn off two nuts 2 and a bolt 3 fastenings of a back cover of a head of the block. Please note: there is an o-ring under the bolt head. Remove the back cover from the block head.
5. Turn away evenly four nuts of fastening of forward 1 and six nuts of fastening of back 2 cases of bearings of a camshaft and remove washers. Then remove both housings.
6. If the key in the groove of the camshaft is loose, remove it so as not to lose it.
7. Remove the camshaft from the block head.
8. Remove the oil seal from the camshaft.
9. Turn a cranked shaft so that the piston corresponding to replaced caps was in the top dead center. With the spark plug removed, insert a tin rod through the spark plug hole between the piston and valve (so that the valve does not fall down).
10. Install the valve spring compressor as shown in the photo using a non-serrated nut. Compress the valve spring tool.
11. Remove two crackers with tweezers. Then remove the fixture.
12. Take out the top plate of springs, internal and external springs of the valve.
13. Press the valve stem seal off the valve guide.
14. To do this, install the collet of the valve stem seal remover on the cap..
15.... and sharply hit the tool sleeve with the striker. Then also sharply hit the striker of the fixture handle..
16.... thereby squeezing the cap from the sleeve. Remove the cap from the fixture collet. If there is no tool for removing caps, remove them with pliers. In this case, the force must be applied strictly upwards and the caps must not be turned so as not to damage the valve guides.
17. Before installing new valve stem seals, it is recommended to remove the springs from them, otherwise the caps can be damaged when they pass through the grooves under the crackers on the valves.
18. Lubricate the oil seal with engine oil and insert into the mandrel.
19. Carefully press the cap all the way into the bottom plate.
20. Install the spring on the cap if it was removed. Replace the remaining valve stem seals in the same way.
21. Establish springs and a valve plate in an order, the return to removal. Install the crackers with the tool so that they are installed in the grooves of the valve stem. Remove the tin rod from the candle hole. After installing the crackers, hit the ends of the valves with a hammer through the metal rod so that the crackers sit in place.
22. Lubricate with engine oil the camshaft bearings in the block head and the adjusting washers of the pushers.
23. Install the camshaft in the block head bearings so that the cams of the 1st cylinder are directed away from the valve lifters.
24. Lubricate the necks and camshaft cams with engine oil.
25. Apply sealant to the block head in the area of the extreme camshaft bearings.
26. Install the camshaft bearing housings, put washers on the studs and tighten the nuts of their fastening in two stages in the order shown:
- tighten the nuts until the bearing housings touch the surface of the block head, while making sure that..
27.... guide bushings entered the holes in the bearing housings;
- Finally tighten the nuts in the sequence shown.
28. Install the camshaft oil seal (see «Camshaft oil seal replacement» in subsection «Replacing Engine Seal Parts»),
29. Check valve clearances and adjust if necessary (see «Valve clearance adjustment»). Next, install all the parts, connect the hoses and wires in the reverse order of removal.
