Note: Replace the cable with a new one if you find frayed cable wires, poorly secured cable ends, or damage to the cable sheath.

3. Raise the rear of the vehicle, remove the brake drum and rear brake shoe (see subsection 8.2.).

1. Loosen the equalizer lock nut.
2. Loosen the equalizer adjusting nut to loosen the parking brake cables.

4. Disconnect the parking brake cable end from the drive lever.

5. Loosen the mounting nut and remove the cable holder on the rear suspension beam.

6. Remove the cable housing bushing from the hole in the brake shield.

7. Pass the end of the cable through the hole in the brake shield.

8. Remove the cable from all holders on the body.

9. Disconnect the cable end from the equalizer.

10. Push the cable end out of the bracket and remove the cable.
11. Install the new cable in the reverse order of removal. Adjust the parking brake.
