Note. Replace the cable with a new one if you find that the cable wires are chafed, the ends are loose, or the cable sheath is damaged.
3. Hang the rear of the car, remove the brake drum and rear brake shoe (see subsection 8.2.).
1. Loosen the equalizer locknut.
2. Loosen the equalizer adjusting nut to loosen the parking brake cables.
4. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the actuating lever.
5. Unscrew the fastening nut and remove the cable holder on the rear suspension beam.
6. Remove the cable sheath bushing from the hole in the brake shield.
7. Pass the tip of the cable through the hole in the brake shield.
8. Remove the cable from all holders on the body.
9. Disconnect the cable end from the equalizer.
10. Push the end of the cable out of the bracket and remove the cable.
11. Install the new cable in the reverse order of removal. Adjust the parking brake.
