Pressure regulator — check (VAZ-21099)

            0

The simplest test of the pressure regulator can be done as follows. Brake the car on a horizontal section of the road with a hard surface. In this case, the front wheels should lock a little earlier than the rear ones.

Frequency: Every 30,000 km.

Before you begin:
  • place the vehicle on a lift, overpass or inspection pit;
  • clean the pressure regulator from dirt.

Note: If the pressure regulator is adjusted correctly, when braking on a level section of the road with a hard surface, the front wheels should lock slightly before the rear ones. If the rear wheels lock before the front ones, the pressure regulator is not adjusted or is faulty. In this case, we recommend contacting a service station.

Note: If the pressure regulator is adjusted correctly, when braking on a level section of the road…

1. Check if brake fluid is leaking from the pressure regulator.

4. Ask an assistant to press the brake pedal. The regulator piston should move out of the housing by 1.6–2.4 mm, compressing the leaf spring until it rests against the lever.

5. If at least one of these conditions is not met, the regulator is faulty. Contact specialists to repair or replace it.
