1. If the car has been sitting for more than one night, pump gasoline into the carburetor using the fuel pump manual priming lever.
2. Unfortunately, the capacity of the battery in severe frost decreases, and the energy consumption for cranking the crankshaft of an engine with thickened oil is much greater. To prolong the life of the battery, before turning on the starter for 30-60 seconds, turn on the high beam headlights using the steering column switch in the light signaling mode. At the same time, due to the passage of a small current in the battery, chemical processes begin and its ability to give energy increases significantly.
3. It is possible, without pulling out the carburetor choke control knob, to turn the engine with a starter for 2-3 seconds to dilute the oil a little. Then, after waiting a pause of 10–15 s, fully pull out the air damper control knob and start it up according to the usual procedure (see subsection 5.1.1.).
4. If the engine does not start on the first try (starter worked 5–10 s), the second can be carried out no earlier than after 30 s. If the engine does not start on the third attempt, contact a car service.
Tip: Do not attempt to start the engine while towing the vehicle. With such a start-up, there are frequent cases of jumping of the timing belt of the timing drive, in which case it will be necessary go to car service for costly repairs.
