To complete the work you will need:
- special device for cleaning battery terminals and power cable terminals;
- hydrometer or medical syringe.
Note: You can also clean the terminals with fine-grained sandpaper.
Sequence of work execution
1. Prepare the car for repair work.
2. Wipe the battery case with a cloth soaked in a 10% solution of baking soda or ammonia.
3. Check the reliability of the battery fastening on the car.
4. Check the condition of the battery terminals and power cable terminals. If the terminals are covered with a layer of oxides, remove them from the battery terminals.
5. Using the device, clean the battery terminals until they shine.
6. Remove the protective cover from the device and carefully clean the inner surface of the terminals with a metal brush.
7. Check the electrolyte level in the battery; for this purpose, the battery body is marked with "MIN" and "MAX".
On a battery that has been in operation for several years, the electrolyte level is poorly visible through the case wall. In this case, you can check the electrolyte level through the battery filler holes:

a) remove the upper battery mounting bar;
b) unscrew the six battery plugs (it's convenient to do this with a coin) and check the electrolyte level in them, which should completely cover the battery separators and not quite reach the lower edges of the filler hole wells.
8. If the electrolyte level is below normal, use a hydrometer (or a medical syringe) we add distilled water to the batteries.
9. Check the battery charge level and recharge the battery if necessary.
Note: After adding distilled water, until the solution in the battery is completely mixed, the hydrometer readings will be incorrect.
10. Screw the plugs back into place and install the upper battery mount bar.
11. Place the power cable terminals on the battery terminals. Use a 10 mm open-end wrench to tighten the terminal mounting bolts and apply a thin protective layer of plastic grease to the battery terminals and terminals.
