Removing
The sequence of operations for removing the belt is as follows:
- disconnect the wires from the battery;
- unscrew the nut securing the generator to the tension bar, turn the generator and remove the drive belt.
- set the gear lever to neutral position;
- remove the top protective cover of the camshaft drive;
- turn the crankshaft until the marks on the camshaft pulley align with the mark on the cylinder head cover, and the marks on the crankshaft pulley with the long mark on the camshaft drive cover (see fig. 73);
- remove the middle and lower protective covers of the camshaft belt drive;
- remove the tension roller bracket spring;
- loosen the bracket mounting bolts, move it to the extreme left position and remove the camshaft drive belt.
Installation
Install a new belt in the following order:
- put the belt on the crankshaft pulley and, pulling the belt counterclockwise, put it on the pulley 8 (see fig. 19) auxiliary drive shaft and tension roller 4;
- put the belt from the front end on the camshaft pulley 5, pressing the bracket 6 to the right, and install the spring 7.
Install the middle protective cover of the belt drive without tightening the mounting bolts. Smoothly turn the crankshaft two turns, keeping the belt in constant tension and not loosening it when the shaft stops. Check the matching of the alignment marks on the camshaft pulley and cylinder head cover, as well as on the crankshaft pulley with a long mark on the middle protective cover. If the marks match, then tighten the bolts 3 fastening the tension roller bracket, first the right bolt, and then the left one. If the marks do not match, then repeat the installation of the belt, correcting the position of the camshaft pulley.
Install and secure the lower, middle and upper protective covers of the camshaft belt drive. Put on the alternator drive belt and adjust its tension. Connect the wires to the battery, check and, if necessary, adjust the ignition timing.
