The surface of the toothed part of the belt must be with a clear profile of the teeth, without folds, cracks, undercuts and delamination of the fabric from the rubber. On the end surfaces, delamination and fraying should not be observed, but a slight protrusion of the fringe of the fabric is allowed. The surface of the outer flat part must be even, without folds, cracks, depressions and bulges.
It is also necessary to check if there is any oiling of the belt due to oil leakage through the camshaft and crankshaft oil seals. This is completely unacceptable, since a belt soaked in oil can quickly fail. To replace damaged oil seals, contact a service station immediately.
The ingress of foreign objects into the camshaft drive can also lead to a broken belt. Therefore, before closing the belt with a protective cover, you should make sure that there are no tools or tools left in the belt area «superfluous» details.
