If the belt deflection exceeds 15 mm, its tension must be adjusted. It is more convenient to do this on an inspection pit. Equipment; portable lamp, 17mm socket wrench, 8x10mm tubular wrench for loosening the engine mudguard, tire iron and blade, spring balance. Don't forget to secure the car with wheel chocks and the parking brake and only then proceed with the operation.
Open the hood and loosen the nut 1 (Fig. 8) securing the generator to the tension bar 5. Go down into the inspection pit (bring your tools and portable lamp with you) and remove the engine splash guard using an 8x10mm tubular wrench and a punch.

Specialists do not remove it, as they can reach the necessary nuts blindly, but while you are just mastering the operation, the mudguard will have to be removed. Loosen the fastening of the nut of the bolt 2 fastening the generator to the bracket 3, move the generator 4 (from the engine) using a mounting blade and fix its new position by tightening nut 1 and bolt nut 2. Install the mudguard in its place.
A regular spring balance can serve as a control device. It can be used to check the pressing force. Thus, the normal belt deflection, equal to 10-15 mm, should be at a force of 98.07 N.
