Over time, the belt stretches and ceases to perform its functions. As a result, on VAZ-21013, VAZ-2102, VAZ-2105 cars, the engine immediately starts to overheat, since neither the fan blades nor the water pump impeller rotate normally, and all the electricity is drawn from the battery, because the generator does not work. On other car models, almost the same thing happens, but the fan has to work for two.
If the belt deflection exceeds 15 mm, its tension must be adjusted. It is more convenient to do this on the inspection ditch. Equipment; portable lamp, socket wrench size 17 mm, tubular wrench 8X10 mm for unscrewing the engine mudguard, firmware and tire removal tool, changeless. Do not forget to fix the car with wheel chocks and a parking brake, and only after that proceed with the operation.
Open the hood and loosen nut 1 (pic. 8) fastening the generator to the tension bar 5. Go down into the inspection ditch (bring along a tool and a portable lamp) and remove the engine mudguard using an 8x10 mm tubular wrench and a firmware.
Specialists do not remove it, as they can blindly get to the necessary nuts, but while you are just mastering the operation, the mudguard will have to be removed. Loosen the fastening of the nut of the bolt 2 fastening the generator to the bracket 3, move the generator 4 (from the engine) with a mounting spatula and fix its new position by tightening the nut 1 and the nut of the bolt 2. Install the mudguard in its place.
An ordinary steelyard can serve as a control device. They can check the pressing force. So, the normal deflection of the belt, equal to 10-15 mm, should be at a force of 98.07 N.
