Exhaust manifold and exhaust system (VAZ-2105)

The exhaust manifold is cast iron, has four pipes for removing gases from four cylinders. The manifold is attached with studs to the cylinder head through sealing ferronite gaskets. The manifold has a flange at the bottom to which the muffler inlet pipe is attached. The inlet pipe is sealed with a metal-asbestos gasket. Since 1988, the gasket has been made of elastometal. The gasket and nuts are disposable.

Exhaust gas release

The gases pass through the exhaust manifold, the intake pipe 2 (Fig. 47), the additional 5 and the main 6 mufflers. The above units are connected by pushing the pipes into each other. One of the pipes has a flared end with two longitudinal diametrically located slots. The pipes are secured with clamps 4.

On VAZ-21053 cars, two additional mufflers are installed from VAZ-2103 and the main one from VAZ-2106. The main mufflers of VAZ-2104 and VAZ-21043 are installed from VAZ-2102.
