General information about the car body (VAZ-21051)

The body of a sedan-type car, four-door, all-metal, welded, load-bearing structure. The body consists of a frame and hanging units: hood, trunk lid, doors, bumpers, interior trim and exterior trim.

The body frame is a rigid spatial truss consisting of units: the floor base with the front and rear panel 7 (see Fig. Body frame), right and left sidewalls 2 assembled with rear fenders 8, front fenders 10 assembled with reinforcements and roof assembled with windshield and rear window frames.

The body doors consist of two panels - external and internal. The panels are connected by welding along the perimeter. From the inside, the door trim is attached to the door on spring holders. All locks are rotary with door opening blocking.

The hood is hung on the body along the front edge and locked with a lock. The lock (see Fig. Hood lock) is equipped with a cable drive with handle 6, located in the passenger compartment on the left side under the instrument panel.

Trunk lid (see fig. Trunk lid) is similar in design to the hood. The lock is opened only by turning the key. Torsion bars 7 facilitate opening the lid and hold it in the open position.

Front seats with individual adjustment of the position and tilt of the backrest. The backrest has coarse and fine tilt adjustment. To create sleeping places, the seat can be moved forward and the backrests can be folded down.

The interior heating is provided by air heated by the engine cooling system fluid. The heater is controlled by handles 3 (see Fig. Heater) control levers.
