
By compressing the spring of the telescopic rod of the starting device,..

…we disconnect it from the three-arm air damper lever.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the five screws securing the cover...

...and, holding the gasket, we remove it (don't lose the cover mounting screws!).

Turning the lid upside down, we check the tightness of the needle valve. To do this, use a rubber bulb (or by mouth through a hose placed on the fuel supply nipple) create a vacuum. A faulty or clogged valve does not hold the vacuum - the bulb immediately straightens out.

We remove the telescopic rod.

Using a fine punch, knock out the float axis.

…we remove the needle valve from its stop.

We remove the cover gasket.

Using a 10 mm spanner, unscrew the valve seat.

There is a soft metal gasket installed under the saddle.
We examine the needle cone to see if it has wear (rim at the tip). If there are no signs of wear, we wash the valve with the seat (after washing the fuel filter) and check for leaks once again. Replace the faulty and worn valve.
It is possible to restore the valve's functionality by slightly enlarging the hole in the seat, but this operation requires accuracy, metalworking skills and is not always successful.
