Carburetor Repair — General Information (VAZ-21061)

Malfunctions of the carburetor during vehicle operation are most often associated with clogging of its channels (calibrated small diameter holes and fuel jets), and also with the deposition of resins in them. We eliminate such a malfunction by washing the jets and internal cavities of the carburetor with acetone and blowing them with compressed air under a pressure of at least 4 kgf/cm².

A breach in the tightness of the carburetor channels leads to incorrect operation or complete failure of the idle system, the second chamber damper drive and other systems and devices. Causes of failure: damage to gaskets, sealing rubber rings; loosening of fasteners; deformation of the cover and the lower plane of the carburetor body (the result of overtightening the nuts and screws that secure them); damage to the diaphragms of the second chamber throttle drive, starting device and accelerator pump).

Some faults may be caused by wear of individual carburetor components, such as the needle valve with seat.

As an example, the repair of the carburetor as a whole is shown here. In practice, it is often sufficient to perform only a part of these operations to eliminate specific faults. Some of them can be performed on the car (see Description of the design).
