Carburetor starter
1 - air damper drive lever; 2 - air damper; 3 - thrust of the starting device; 4 - the rod of the starting device; 5 - adjusting screw; 6 - throttle valve of the first chamber; 7 - throttle actuator rod.
You can check and adjust the amount of ajar opening of the air damper on the car by removing the air filter cover (shown on removed carburetor).
We turn off the stopper of the starting device. There is an adjusting screw under the plug.
By pressing the three-arm lever (if the carburetor is on the car, then pulling out the handle «suction»), close the air damper completely and sink the thrust into the body of the starting device until it stops.
With a drill with a diameter of 5.5 mm, we check the gap between the lower edge of the air damper and the chamber wall.
With a thin screwdriver, turning the adjusting screw, we change the gap. To decrease - turn the screw, to increase - turn it off.
Having adjusted, we install the stopper of the starting device in place.
Holding the air damper by the three-arm lever in the fully closed position, with a drill with a diameter of 0.9–1.0 mm (suitable wire from a small paper clip) we check the gap between the throttle valve and the chamber wall in the region of the transient openings.
Adjusting clearance..
... or by moving the rod to another hole in the lever,..
... or by bending the rod itself.
