Anti-lock braking system (VAZ-2110)

In the variant version, the cars are equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS), which prevents the wheels from locking when braking, thereby ensuring the maintenance of a given trajectory of movement and a minimum braking distance in almost any road conditions. However, when braking on a road with a loose surface (gravel, sand, loose snow) some increase in braking distance may occur compared to braking under the same conditions with locked wheels.

When braking suddenly, press the brake pedal as quickly and with maximum force as possible and hold it without releasing it until the end of braking. When changing the direction of movement during braking, also do not release the brake pedal.

Warning! Intermittent braking (releasing and pressing the brake pedal again) on vehicles with ABS increases the braking distance.

Braking with ABS starts at a speed of over 8 km/h and is accompanied by slight pulsation of the brake pedal and characteristic noise from the ABS actuators. Lighting of the ABS status indicator lamp (except for the self-test mode when the ignition is turned on) indicates a malfunction in the system, the elimination of which must be carried out only at the PSSS. Failure of the ABS does not disrupt the operation of the hydraulic brake drive. ABS stops working when the vehicle speed drops to 3 km/h.

To avoid limiting the performance of the ABS, do not install tires of different sizes on the vehicle!
